I am in awe of the human experience; how much of it we acknowledge and
how much lose. This life that exists on Earth is minute and I enjoy fixating on
the moments that pass. Through concepts of love and remembrance, under
the lens of grief, adolescence, and the spiritual world, my work finds itself. By
layering materials, allowing my hands to play, and engaging with the
communication line between the head and the heart, my practice speaks to
the ideas of risk and vulnerability. My use of mixed mediums and layered
substrates allows the work to tell a story, through depth of texture, form, and
material. There is a sense of tactility and intuitiveness that is understood, as
the maker, to be parallel with life’s great symphony. I use repeated motifs of
equine, self-portraits, and pattern to capture what my heart holds. Reference
of childhood and the dealings of grief, God, and love are the foundations of my
practice. I believe in life, and I believe in tragedy, and that it is all precious.

This is God,
This is love,
This is practice,
And this is suffering,
Over and over and over again.
